The successful candidate will spearhead the design and implementation of traffic management systems, public transport networks, and sustainable mobility initiatives. You will lead a team of transportation engineers, manage key projects, and collaborate closely with municipal authorities and developers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of complex transportation projects, including road networks, public transport systems, and active transport infrastructure.
• Develop transportation models and conduct traffic impact assessments for various development proposals.
• Formulate strategies for enhancing traffic flow, safety, and accessibility within urban and regional areas.
• Oversee the work of junior engineers and technicians, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
• Collaborate with urban planners, architects, and environmental consultants to integrate transportation solutions into broader development plans.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and design documentation for clients and public consultations.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and client expectations effectively.
• Represent the company in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Stay current with emerging trends in transportation engineering, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and sustainable mobility.
• Contribute to business development efforts and proposals for new projects in Durban and the surrounding regions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with a strong focus on urban transportation planning and design.
• Proficiency in transportation planning and traffic simulation software (e.g., PTV Vissim, Synchro, Cube).
• Experience with public transport planning, traffic calming measures, and non-motorized transport infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, geometric design, and highway capacity analysis.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to conduct detailed technical analysis and synthesize complex information.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and public participation processes.
• Knowledge of relevant South African transportation standards and policies.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a technical team.
