This role includes leading and supervising a team of Training Facilitators across multiple African countries, to deliver driver and operator training that promotes safety, compliance and upskilling of Operators across Unitrans. The Lead Training Facilitator role ensures delivery of training activities within a division (across countries) in alignment with organisational priorities.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12. NQF Level 5 in Human Resources or Education. Professional certifications – Technical (Moderator and Assessor accreditation) Learning and Development Facilitator Certificate. Skills Development Facilitator qualification. Related Bachelor’s Degree would be an advantage. Professional Certifications - Assessor and Moderator
  • Industry Experience: Agriculture, Mining and/or Transport and Logistics
  • Minimum of three (3) years management and leadership experience in a similar role is required
  • Experience and a proven track record of managing teams across multiple African countries would be an advantage
  • Experience with implementing new systems and processes to address business needs and achieve organisational goals

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and report on the expired training within the Division.
  • Implementation and supervision of classroom and practical training schedules.
  • Monthly moderation of completed assessments.
  • Report on internal moderation.
  • Perform subject matter expert duties during customer audits.
  • Train-the-Trainer duties (Safe Operating- and Work Procedures, Customer specific training requirements, Performance Based Standards, Convey Dangerous Goods by Road and Operate a Vehicle Combination).
  • Assist with and supervise remedial training interventions (after incident/accident) and driver coaching activities (DriveCam, Mix Telematics).
  • Intentional focus on high-risk drivers to improve on and eliminate high-risk driving behaviours.
  • Supervising, coaching and mentoring of divisional Training Facilitators.
  • Monitor DriveCam events and provide suggestions and advice regarding required training, and develop Toolbox talks to mitigate the risk.
  • Report on completed training interventions (monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually).
  • Continuously assessing current and prospective Training Facilitators’ competencies and improve on shortcomings.
  • Address and mitigate risk through the development of innovative and effective training and development programs for drivers, in consultation with the Group Training Manager and Divisional Head: Human Capital.
  • Facilitation of periodic- and reinforcement training of Divisional staff.
  • Assist with incident/accident investigation and compile training plans to improve on driving skills to prevent reoccurrences of incidents/accidents where applicable.
  • Facilitate internal and legislative training interventions to new and current drivers, explaining and discussing content, clarifying terminology and illustrating examples to ensure understanding and learning of course content.
  • Liaise with the Training Manager to develop long- and short-term training plans for the Division.
  • Perform planned- and unplanned job observations to improve behavioural based safety.
  • Act as a contingency during crisis situations.
  • Lead, guide and direct a team of Training Facilitators
