A Snapshot of Your Day

Lead Systems Engineer at Siemens Energy

As a part of our team, you will be responsible for engineering activities during the bid phase and project execution for electrical upgrade/modernization projects (High voltage substations).

The activities will vary and will be coordinated with the Bid Manager and Project Manager.

You will coordinate technical design and engineering with contracted engineering companies, clients, and end clients, from bid submission to project completion.

The working environment is hybrid, based in Wadeville with occasional travel to Uganda.

How You'll Make An Impact

You will oversee various stages of electrical design, including:

1. Reviewing electrical, mechanical, and civil designs to identify gaps or contradictions.
2. Validating cable sizing and making recommendations.
3. Validating steel support structures and providing recommendations.
4. Validating layout, including transformer and switchgear positioning, with recommendations.
5. Ensuring fire protection measures for transformers are adequate.
6. Validating control and protection requirements.
7. Reviewing electrical installation methodology for constructibility and space considerations.
8. Managing submittals and approvals.
9. Updating system progress trackers aligned with the bid schedule.

What You Bring

• 3rd level Qualification in Electrical Engineering with ECSA and SAIEE registration.
• Experience with HV and MV systems in distribution and transmission environments.
• Over 4 years of project engineering experience with an Electrical Contractor.
• Proven record in delivering medium to large electrical projects.
• Commercial awareness and ability to develop technical submittals.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
• Ability to multitask and manage priorities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and administrative skills.
• Leadership qualities and innovation in electrical/technical activities.
• Project planning and problem-solving skills.
