Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Special Needs Education Coordinator to lead the support team in Vereeniging, developing and implementing IEPs for students with diverse learning needs. You will work closely with teachers, parents and external specialists to tailor support for academic and social success.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in special education, leadership experience, and strong knowledge of laws and best practices, with a commitment to inclusive learning in the school

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Needs Education or related field is required.
• Postgraduate qualification in Special Education is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in special education, with at least 2 years in a leadership or coordination role.
• Knowledge of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor, and evaluate IEPs for students with special needs, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt curriculum and provide resources and strategies for diverse learners.
• Serve as primary contact for parents, offering guidance and progress updates.
• Coordinate with external agencies, therapists, and specialists for comprehensive support services.
• Organize and conduct professional development sessions on best practices in special needs education.
• Advocate for students' needs within the school and wider community.
