Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Site Engineer in Gauteng to oversee and supervise on-site civil engineering activities for major infrastructure projects. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical oversight, and a commitment to safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

You will work closely with project managers, contractors and site teams to ensure designs are executed to specification and within budget, while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in civil engineering with at least 3 years in a site engineering or supervisory role.
• Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, dams, pipelines).
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and site management practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct all civil engineering activities on site, ensuring projects are executed according to design specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Manage and coordinate the work of site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure efficient resource utilization.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents to provide guidance to site personnel.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures, ensuring all materials and workmanship meet required standards.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports, documenting activities, challenges, and resolutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve engineering and construction problems that arise during the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on site.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, with at least 3 years in a site engineering or supervisory role.
• Proven experience with large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, dams, pipelines).
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and site management techniques.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
