Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead RF Planning Engineer to spearhead RF planning and optimization in Cape Town. The role blends remote flexibility with in-office collaboration to shape the network evolution for mobile subscribers.

You will design, analyze, and optimize RAN performance, lead a team of engineers, and contribute to strategy and innovation within the telecoms sector.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive RF planning and optimization experience in telecoms.
• Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of 2G/3G/4G LTE and 5G NR air interface.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of RF network plans for coverage, capacity, and upgrades.
• Conduct detailed RF site surveys, analysis, and optimization to improve performance.
• Perform drive-test analysis and post-processing to identify RF issues.
• Develop and maintain RF design tools, scripts, and databases.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure timeliness and budgets.
• Mentor junior RF engineers and support their growth.
• Stay updated on RF tech and best practices to inform strategy.
• Prepare and present reports on network performance to senior management.
