About the Role

Our client is a leading biotechnology research organization dedicated to advancing human health through groundbreaking discoveries. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead R&D Scientist to join our innovative team in Randburg, Gauteng . This role will involve leading a team of talented researchers in the design, execution, and analysis of complex experiments aimed at developing novel therapeutic solutions. You will play a key role in project strategy, experimental design, data interpretation, and the translation of research findings into potential clinical applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background in a relevant biotechnology field, excellent leadership qualities, and a passion for scientific innovation. This is a pivotal position within our R&D department in Randburg .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of research scientists and technicians in executing R&D projects.
• Design and oversee complex experimental protocols in areas such as molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, or biochemistry.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring accuracy, rigor, and reproducibility.
• Develop and validate new assays and methodologies to support research objectives.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of R&D projects, identifying new research directions and opportunities.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, research manuscripts for publication, and presentations for scientific conferences.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, clinical development, and regulatory affairs.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage laboratory resources, including equipment maintenance and supply inventory.
• Stay current with scientific literature and emerging trends in the biotechnology field.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related biotechnology discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in relevant laboratory techniques and experimental design.
• Proven track record of scientific productivity, evidenced by publications in reputable journals and conference presentations.
• Strong understanding of therapeutic development processes and regulatory landscapes.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis software and scientific data management.
