Placements24 seeks a Lead Process Development Engineer for a premier specialty chemicals site in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will drive the development and scale-up of novel chemical processes, turning laboratory discoveries into industrial realities.

Responsibilities include leading pilot and production-scale projects, creating PFDs/P&IDs, and conducting HAZOPs. You will mentor engineers, manage safety, timelines, and budgets, and collaborate across R&D, engineering, and manufacturing to deliver

Formación

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in process development and scale-up for specialty chemicals.
• Expertise in unit operations, reaction engineering and separation technologies.
• Proficiency in advanced process modeling and simulation tools.
• Strong grasp of chemical process safety and environmental regulations.
• Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional projects and teams.
• Experience with GMP is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization, design, and execution of pilot plant and commercial-scale chemical processes.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Perform process simulations, hazard analyses (HAZOP), and risk assessments to ensure safety and operability.
• Oversee the scale-up of new products and processes from laboratory to pilot and production scales.
• Collaborate closely with R&D scientists, engineering teams, and manufacturing personnel.
• Optimize existing processes for yield improvement, cost reduction, and enhanced sustainability.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
