Lead Officer: Payroll Opportunity

Komatsu South Africa has an opportunity for a Lead Officer: Payroll to join the Finance Department at our Head Office in Germiston.

The suitable candidate should have a B Degree with Accounting and 6 years of related experience within payroll, with knowledge of financial accounting principles, SAP, and payroll experience across different categories of waged and salaried employees.

Minimum Requirements
  • B Degree with Accounting
  • 6 years payroll-related experience
  • Sound knowledge of financial accounting principles
  • Proficiency with SAP and experience with various employee categories
  • Knowledge of legislation such as EEC, BCEA, Main Agreement, Income Tax Act, etc.
  • High attention to confidentiality and ability to work under pressure within strict deadlines
Role Responsibilities
  • Drafts and compiles employee correspondence (benefit letters, incentives, IRP documentation, etc.)
  • Prepares information for governance committees and decision-making bodies
  • Executes governance decisions and reports deviations from norms and procedures
  • Informs staff of contractual details, policies, and procedures
  • Manages relationships with suppliers and supervises contracted services
  • Monitors contractual and SLA compliance
  • Generates reports on contractual agreements and SLA performance
  • Communicates goals and direction clearly and regularly
  • Resolves issues positively and engages in change management
  • Stays updated with industry trends, legislation, and standards
  • Gathers business data and supports candidate development and succession planning
  • Monitors risk mitigation plans and legislative compliance, including employee taxation laws
  • Performs month-end reconciliations, distributes payslips, and manages related administrative tasks
