Role Overview: Lead Nurse Lived-Experience

You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on nursing practice and policy through key responsibilities, including leading transformative projects within our Mental Health Programmes, driving the integration of lived experiences into nursing practices, and collaborating across departments and stakeholders.

You will foster collaboration among RCN members, external organisations, and diverse forums to ensure patient, family, and professional voices are central. Additionally, you will contribute to the strategic direction of our Practice Academy, support workforce mental well-being initiatives, and promote an inclusive culture within nursing.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead projects to integrate lived experiences into nursing practice.
  2. Engage with stakeholders to develop evidence-based solutions for healthcare challenges.
  3. Promote collaboration among members, external bodies, and forums.
  4. Support the Practice Academy's strategic initiatives, focusing on lived experience leadership.
  5. Champion anti-stigma efforts and enhance nursing culture.
  6. Connect with a broad network of healthcare and academic professionals.
  7. Engage in continuous professional development.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Active NMC registration and extensive nursing practice and education experience.
  • Ability to leverage personal lived experience to improve patient care.
  • Proven leadership skills in team management and driving change.
  • Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
