Placements24 in George, Western Cape, is seeking a Lead NLP Engineer to drive the development of our next-generation language understanding platforms. You will lead a team of engineers and researchers, shaping technical strategy and guiding deployments of AI-powered language models.

The role requires a strong background in NLP, 5+ years of experience with at least 2 years in leadership, and proficiency in Python and libraries like spaCy, NLTK, and Transformers.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS/AI or related field.
• 5+ years in NLP, with 2+ years in leadership.
• Proficient in Python and NLP libraries (spaCy, NLTK, Transformers).

Responsibilities

• Lead NLP engineers and researchers in design, development and deployment of NLP models.
• Define the technical roadmap and architectural vision for NLP initiatives.
• Oversee lifecycle from ideation to production deployment and maintenance.
• Develop state-of-the-art algorithms for sentiment analysis, text classification, NER, MT and QA.
• Ensure scalability, efficiency and robustness of NLP systems.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate business requirements into solutions.
• Mentor and coach team members, promoting technical excellence.
• Stay current with NLP and ML research trends; contribute to open-source projects.
