About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Lighting Technician to oversee all aspects of lighting design and execution for theatrical productions, live events, and broadcasts in Tembisa. This critical role involves managing a team of technicians, maintaining sophisticated lighting equipment, and ensuring the successful implementation of lighting concepts that align with artistic direction. You will play a key part in creating visually stunning environments that captivate audiences, working within a fast-paced and dynamic setting. This is a hands-on position for a dedicated professional passionate about the transformative power of light in the performing arts and entertainment sector in Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate lighting systems for a variety of live performances and events.
• Lead, train, and supervise a team of lighting technicians, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety standards.
• Manage lighting equipment inventory, including repair, maintenance, and procurement of new technology.
• Collaborate with directors, set designers, and production managers to translate creative visions into technical lighting solutions.
• Program and operate lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog) for complex shows and events.
• Ensure all lighting operations comply with industry safety regulations and venue-specific requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in stage lighting design and operation .
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in a live event or theatre setting.
• Proficiency with various lighting control systems, consoles, and software.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, rigging, and stagecraft.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure during critical setup and performance times.
• Certification in relevant safety protocols (e.g., working at heights, electrical safety) is a plus.
