Placements24 seeks a visionary Principal Investigator to lead its Immunology Research division in Cape Town. You will define scientific direction, oversee independent projects, and foster collaboration across the department to push immune mechanisms and novel therapies forward.

You will publish in top journals, supervise postdocs and technicians, and drive grants while ensuring ethical and safety standards in a premier research environment.

Qualifications

• MD or PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• Distinguished publication record in leading immunology journals.
• Proven success in obtaining and managing substantial research grants.
• Extensive experience in leading independent research teams and managing laboratory operations.
• Expertise in a broad range of immunological techniques, including flow cytometry, cytokine analysis, and animal models.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead innovative research programs focused on immunology questions and therapeutic targets.
• Secure external funding through grant applications and manage research budgets.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of post-doctoral fellows, research associates, and technicians.
• Publish high-impact papers in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
• Establish and maintain collaborations with academic and industry partners.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, regulatory, and safety standards in the lab.
