Placements24 is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Soweto to oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance across a diverse fleet. You will manage a team of mechanics, drive preventative maintenance programs, and ensure safety, cost control, and downtime reduction.

The role combines on-site supervision with strategic planning and administrative tasks that can be managed remotely, reflecting the hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance or heavy equipment repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle diagnostics.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics and service technicians.
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for the entire fleet.
• Oversee vehicle and equipment diagnostics, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability while controlling costs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories, and cost analyses for the fleet.
• Collaborate with operations departments to schedule maintenance and minimize vehicle downtime.
• Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations within the maintenance facility.
