Job summary

GPW in Pretoria seeks a qualified electrician with a minimum of five years post-apprenticeship experience to maintain and repair equipment across the facility. You will analyze specifications, schedule maintenance, and ensure compliance with SHERQ and OHSA standards while coordinating with factory managers.

The role requires a Grade 10/12, a Trade Test Certificate in Electrical, and the ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Grade 10 or equivalent qualification plus a completed apprenticeship.
• Trade Test Certificate in Electrical (trade tested electrician).
• Grade 12 will be an added advantage.
• At least 5 years’ post apprenticeship experience in Equipment and Service Maintenance.
• Must be able to obtain a positive security clearance.
• Good knowledge of applicable processes and equipment.
• Understanding of all relevant human resources legislative framework, regulations and prescripts.
• Understanding of Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Labour Relations Act, Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHREQ) management requirements Act, Skills Development Act.
• A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective and efficient maintenance and repair of equipment.
• Analyze equipment specifications and capacity data to determine maintenance schedules.
• Manage maintenance plans and lead times with Factory Managers.
• Monitor issuing of maintenance plans to ensure timely execution.
• Escalate delays and adjust schedules with Maintenance Planning and Monitoring.
• Perform regular inspections to identify issues or safety hazards.
• Establish preventative maintenance programs to ensure reliability.
• Prepare maintenance and repair reports and improve MTTR/MTBF as directed.
• Support SHERQ activities and ensure compliance with OHSA safety requirements.
• Supervise and develop staff; participate in performance assessments and HR processes.
• Contribute to policy development and update procedures as required.
