Job Summary:
The Lead Engineer / Engineering Manager will manage all aspects of medium to large and complex Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) / Services projects for the Power and Renewable Energy Business unit.
The Lead Engineer / Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of project managers and/or engineers to deliver project-based work across several industries and major clients. Ideally, the Lead Engineer / Engineering Manager must have experience in a similar role and experience with clients in the power and energy sector. To be successful in this role it is essential that the candidate has client-facing experience and a good level of expertise in both the contractual, commercial and delivery aspects of projects.
The Lead Engineer / Engineering Manager will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for contractual requirements and financial delivery of projects. The incumbent will be the key interface across the business, the client, and the management team on all project matters. Develops technical solutions and offers commercial recommendations to increase competitiveness through improved cost and schedule for project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities, identify and win projects through effective relationships and create a pipeline of opportunities.
- Provide strategic, technical, operational, financial, and managerial leadership as part of the Business Unit leadership team.
- Develop and manage bids, tenders, and proposals.
- Prepare and review all legal agreement documents for approval.
- Ensure projects are secured and delivered on time and within the financial requirements and margins as specified.
- Lead teams in the safe delivery of projects and identify, reduce, and manage all risks (technical, quality, cost, schedule, statutory, health and safety, commercial or otherwise).
- Sub-contractor selection and management.
- Financial responsibility for the delivery of the annual projects plan, managing the monthly finance, and ensuring all costs are fully accountable and recoverable.
- Review financial and management reports in relation to the projects under your management.
- Recruit and retain talent for the present delivery and future growth of projects.
- Make presentations to project owners, investors, business partners, and company executives concerning different phases of a project.
- Manage available resources, including teams working on the project.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional Registrations: Pr Eng, Pr Tech.
- PMBOK qualification would be advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a project lead/managerial role in power generation, transmission and/or distribution related projects.
- Must be able to manage complex and multi-disciplinary projects in the power generation space.
- Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of MS Office and MS Project.
- Experience in various power and energy project development phases, as well as various types of developments.
- Previous Project Management Experience on small/medium-sized services projects or EPC.
- Project experience in the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Hydro, Grid, and/or Battery Energy Storage).
- Must have experience in the consulting industry.
- Previous track record in successfully generating new business within the renewable energy sector.
- Must have a good understanding and experience working with FIDIC, NEC, GCC contracts.
