About the Role

Our client, a prominent name in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking an experienced and highly capable Lead Drilling Supervisor to oversee drilling operations in Rustenburg, North West . This critical role involves ensuring that all drilling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Lead Drilling Supervisor will be responsible for managing drilling crews, equipment, and resources to achieve operational objectives while maintaining the highest safety standards. This is an on-site position requiring extensive field experience and leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving operational excellence and fostering a strong safety culture within the drilling department in the Oil & Gas domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all aspects of drilling operations, including well planning, execution, and completion.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies at all times.
• Manage and mentor drilling crews, providing guidance and ensuring efficient performance.
• Monitor drilling progress, troubleshoot operational challenges, and implement solutions to minimize non-productive time (NPT).
• Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of drilling equipment and tools.
• Develop and maintain daily drilling reports, including operational updates, safety observations, and personnel issues.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and other relevant personnel to optimize drilling plans and wellbore trajectories.
• Manage inventory of drilling supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and drills with the drilling crew.
• Approve work permits and ensure all operations are conducted under controlled conditions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in drilling operations within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven experience as a Drilling Supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
• Extensive knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and make critical decisions in challenging field conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid IWCF certification (Level 4 preferred).
• Experience with directional drilling and complex wellbore construction is highly desirable.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in demanding field environments near Rustenburg, North West .
