Job summary

Barloworld Equipment (Pty) Ltd seeks a Lead Data Engineer to deliver complex data engineering solutions and provide technical leadership across the team. You will design scalable pipelines, mentor engineers, and ensure governance, security, and cost efficiency in cloud data platforms.

Candidate should have extensive production data engineering experience, strong SQL/Python/Spark skills, and hands-on expertise with Snowflake and Azure Synapse.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS, engineering or IS.
• Extensive hands-on production data engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Azure Fabric/Snowflake, preferably Snowflake.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git and automated data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and optimisation of scalable data pipelines and platforms.
• Provide technical leadership and act as escalation point for complex decisions.
• Define, document and enforce data engineering standards and patterns.
