Job description

Lead Construction HSE Officer required in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements:

  • SAMTRAC/NEBOSH Certificate
  • ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 – Introduction
  • Must have proven experience in HSE having worked for a Construction company, handling large projects (essential)
  • Experience in Legal Liability, Risk Assessor, Incident Investigator
  • Professional registration: SACPCMP registration as a CHSO

Key Performance Areas:

  • Implement the HSE elements
  • Promote and maintain HSE compliance onsite as well and ensure compliance with all legislative standards and regulations
  • Responsible for audits and vetting
  • Assess and approve contractor health and safety documentation and assist with guiding contractors where required
  • Assist with drafting and implements task specific risk management documentation
  • Implement project specific emergency preparedness plans and reviews effectiveness
  • Conduct site inductions and assist with relevant training requirements
  • Contribute to maintaining ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification
  • Collate inspection check lists and ensures they are completed by appointed persons
  • Case manage all incidents, provide First Aid where required and compile necessary reports
  • Record and report on all HSE-related matters and oversees HSE-related document control
  • Maintain non-conformance registers
  • Assist with site shut-down procedure
  • Act as an expert advisor on HSE related matters
  • Mitigate risk and realise opportunities
  • Track penalties and contra charge costs
