Job description

Position Summary:
This role is responsible for establishing an effective configuration management culture within SARAO. It involves implementing configuration management functions and representing, or delegating as appropriate, the configuration management functionary on relevant consortia and working groups both internationally and locally.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver a Configuration Management function to all stakeholders
2. Maintain configuration management tools and systems
3. Control and manage configuration changes
4. Establish a baseline of system settings
5. Perform continuous auditing and process improvement
6. Review and update configuration management processes
7. Administer the CMS to maintain data integrity, reliability, and coherence
8. Provide support and training to project teams
9. Ensure the CMS is accessible to all stakeholders
10. Implement and customize business workflows for internal stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:

• Diploma / Advanced Certificate / NQF 6

Minimum Experience:

• 5-7 years of experience in a configuration management role within a high-tech engineering or product development environment

• Diploma in Engineering, Information Management/Technology, Business Management, or equivalent CMII Qualification

Knowledge:

• Configuration Management and Processes
• Change Management and Processes
• Project Management and Processes
• System engineering processes
• Use of ALIM or similar CM software
• Use of Key360 or similar CM software
• Proficiency in the CM life cycle
• Use of enterprise management and resource planning systems
• Development of document management controls and procedures
• CMII principles

• Good understanding of configuration management best practices and tools
• Customer-oriented attitude with good problem-solving and communication skills
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
• Willingness to work outside normal hours and operate under pressure
