Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Cloud Engineer to drive cloud strategy and infrastructure initiatives. This fully remote role lets you design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments from anywhere in South Africa.

You will lead a team of engineers in a fast-paced, agile, remote-first setting, shaping the future of cloud technology within the organization and enabling business growth through innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 7+ years infrastructure engineering experience, with at least 3 years in cloud platforms.
• Proven cloud architecture, deployment and management across AWS, Azure and/or GCP.
• Strong scripting and infrastructure automation skills.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and deploy resilient and scalable cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Ensure security, performance, and cost-effectiveness of cloud environments through monitoring and optimization.
• Lead and mentor a remote team of cloud engineers, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues in production.
