About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Lead Automotive Software Developer to spearhead innovative software projects from their Centurion, Gauteng base. This pivotal role involves leading a team of talented developers in designing, implementing, and deploying robust software solutions for in-vehicle infotainment systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and connected car technologies. You will be responsible for architectural decisions, code quality, and mentoring junior developers, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, reliable, and secure software. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of software engineering principles within the automotive context and a proven track record of leading successful software development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of automotive software modules and applications.
• Define software architecture and technical specifications in collaboration with system architects and product managers.
• Mentor and guide a team of software developers, fostering best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, quality, and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain software build systems, continuous integration, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers, QA testers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects and issues.
• Stay abreast of emerging automotive software technologies, trends, and standards.
• Contribute to the overall software development strategy and roadmap.
• Ensure software deliverables meet stringent automotive quality and safety standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Significant experience (7+ years) in software development, with a strong focus on automotive applications.
• Demonstrated experience in a lead or senior developer role.
• Expertise in programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, and experience with embedded systems.
• Familiarity with automotive software frameworks and middleware (e.g., AUTOSAR, QNX, Linux Automotive).
• Proven experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, Agile and Scrum.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and system-on-chip (SoC) architectures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and manage distributed projects.
• Must be based in or able to work remotely while being available for occasional travel to Centurion, Gauteng.
