About the Role

Our client is looking for a visionary Lead Automotive Software Engineer to spearhead the development of cutting-edge embedded systems in Tembisa, Gauteng . This role is pivotal in shaping the future of automotive software, focusing on in-vehicle infotainment, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and vehicle control units. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading software development teams, architecting complex embedded solutions, and a deep understanding of the automotive software lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, system architects, and quality assurance professionals, to deliver robust and innovative software products that meet stringent automotive standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of automotive software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
• Architect, design, and implement embedded software for automotive applications, including infotainment, ADAS, and powertrain control.
• Define software requirements, specifications, and technical designs in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain software using C/C++ and other relevant programming languages for embedded platforms.
• Ensure software compliance with automotive standards such as AUTOSAR, ISO 26262 (functional safety), and MISRA guidelines.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to define and integrate software and hardware components.
• Conduct code reviews, performance analysis, and debugging to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Stay abreast of emerging automotive technologies, trends, and best practices in embedded systems development.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in embedded software development, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role within the automotive industry.
• Extensive experience with C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Strong understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Experience with AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and MISRA C/C++.
• Familiarity with software development tools, including compilers, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment in Tembisa, Gauteng .
