Placements24 is partnering with a renowned studio in Gauteng to recruit a Lead Audio Engineer in Tembisa. You will spearhead a team of audio designers and craft immersive soundscapes for interactive media and installations.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep technical mastery, artistic sensibility, and collaboration with developers and directors to translate vision into high‑fidelity audio across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in audio engineering, sound design, or a related field within the entertainment industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Expert proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or Cubase, and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD).
• In-depth knowledge of acoustics, signal processing, psychoacoustics, and immersive audio techniques (e.g., Dolby Atmos, ambisonics).
• Strong understanding of game development pipelines or film post-production workflows.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
• Proven experience in sound design, Foley, ADR, and music composition/editing.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical audio issues efficiently.
• Portfolio showcasing exceptional sound design and engineering work across various media.
• A deep appreciation for diverse forms of artistic expression and their sonic representation.
