Job description

Leap29 have partnered with a leading IPP who are seeking an experienced Land Manager to join their team in South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in identifying and securing land rights for renewable energy projects. This role involves working closely with landowners, regulators, and various stakeholders to ensure the successful acquisition and management of land for renewable energy developments across Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Secure and manage land agreements for all phases of renewable energy projects, including planning, construction, and decommissioning.
  2. Conduct due diligence on land-related aspects during project acquisitions, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
  3. Negotiate, draft, and finalise land lease agreements, engaging with landowners and ensuring proper registration with authorities.
  4. Address investor inquiries during transactions, manage land-related costs, and keep documentation up to date.
  5. Generate and maintain project maps and land agreement records, ensuring accurate data management.
  6. Organise and lead meetings with landowners, providing updates and addressing concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Communicate land agreement conditions to construction teams, monitor compliance.

Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience in land acquisition, preferably within the renewable energy sector in South Africa.
  2. Fluent in English. Knowledge of local languages preferred.
  3. Valid driving license and the ability to travel frequently around South Africa.
  4. Proficiency in GIS software is advantageous.

Location: This role can be based in either Cape Town or Johannesburg, with travel required across South Africa.
