Key Responsibilities

Laboratory work

  • Preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and performing experimental work of external projects.

Development of techniques

  • Literature searches and own development of techniques to do specific analysis and interpretation of the results.

Attendance of meetings

  • Preparing and providing feedback at the weekly feedback meeting.

Reports

  • Assist with compiling reports for external projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • A master’s degree (NQF level 9) in Chemical Engineering / Chemistry – MSc or MEng.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ coal and biomass analyses (Modified Fisher Assay and high-pressure reactor systems at NWU) experience in running experiments on reactor driven equipment; interpret results; develop new or better methods.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in handling of solid waste samples – crushing, milling, and blending.
