Laboratory Manager

A Petrochemical company based in Johannesburg is looking to hire a Petrochemical Laboratory Manager. This role involves managing a team of skilled technicians and scientists, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of all testing and research activities, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

The individual must have the following working experience:

• 3+ years' experience in the relevant field / Previous experience in a refining, chemical and petroleum lab preferable.
• Laboratory operations as per ISO9001 and the QMS.
• Manage and mentor a team of laboratory technicians and scientists, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate and oversee all testing and research activities, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of results.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
• Develop and manage the laboratory budget, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with other departments, including R&D, production, and quality assurance, to support overall company goals and objectives.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in petrochemical research and laboratory technologies.

Qualifications:

• Qualification in Chemistry, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Extensive knowledge of petrochemical processes, products, and testing methods.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other relevant software.
