Job description

Citra is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Facility Manager to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our R&D testing laboratory. The Facility Manager will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant environment for conducting a wide range of testing activities. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of laboratory operations and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Operations & Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of all testing equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.
    • Manage laboratory inventory, including chemicals, consumables, and equipment parts.
    • Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs of laboratory infrastructure and equipment.
    • Ensure the laboratory is clean, organized, and compliant with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
    • Implement and maintain effective laboratory management systems.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures, including chemical handling, waste disposal, and emergency response.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards.
    • Manage and maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and other relevant documentation.
    • Maintain records pertaining to laboratory certifications and equipment calibration.
  • Facility Management:
    • Manage building utilities, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
    • Coordinate with external vendors for facility maintenance and repairs.
    • Oversee security systems and access control.
    • Manage waste disposal and recycling programs.
    • Ensure the laboratory meets all accessibility standards.
  • Team Management & Coordination:
    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of laboratory support staff.
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
    • Coordinate with the R&D team to ensure efficient scheduling and resource allocation.
    • Maintain positive professional relationships with all staff.
  • Budget & Procurement:
    • Develop and manage the laboratory's operating budget.
    • Procure laboratory equipment, supplies, and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
    • Maintain accurate records of expenditures and inventory.
    • Negotiate contracts with vendors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Technical qualification in Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • A Bachelor's Degree will be considered favorably.
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in laboratory management or facility management, preferably in a testing environment.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of equipment calibration and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with budget management and procurement.
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 is a strong asset.
  • Certifications in facility management or safety management is a benefit.
