What are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced and talented
professional who can ensure compliance with lab protocols, manage data integrity, and contribute to continuous improvement.
What do we expect from the candidate?
We expect a Lab Analyst candidate to demonstrate strong technical proficiency in laboratory procedures, meticulous attention to detail, and a solid understanding of safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate should be capable of accurately conducting tests, analyzing data, and maintaining detailed records. Additionally, they should possess problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to adapt to evolving laboratory technologies and protocols.
The Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring correct receipt and registration of test items.
- Ensure proper housekeeping is maintained in the laboratories and offices.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as given by the Laboratory/Technical Manager of Absolute Science.
- Ensure correct completion of all documents and records that form part of the Quality Management System to effect full traceability of testing activities.
- Responsible for ensuring that the management system related to quality is always followed, and that continuous improvement of the quality management system and laboratory processes are affected.
- Recording data accurately and promptly and in compliance with ISO 17025 and taking responsibility of the quality of the data generated.
- Prioritising projects and studies by integrating and coordinating operations to provide a comprehensive service to all customers.
- Shares information and work cooperatively with others to obtain company objectives.
- Ensure that test and reference items are appropriately characterised, stored and disposed of.

- Participate and assist with assessments by external bodies to evaluate the Quality Management System.
- Timely maintenance, verification and calibration of analytical instrumentation to ensure continued operations in the laboratory.
- Reporting any equipment issues to the Laboratory/Technical Manager.
- Participate in routine Proficiency testing to demonstrate ongoing technical competence.
- Train personnel by demonstration of apparatus, methods and techniques.
- Provide support for personnel experiencing problems with instruments, methods and techniques.
- Ensure that all health & safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to.
- Immediately communicate any health and safety issues to the H&S representative or Laboratory Manager.
If you possess…
Must-Have
- Matric/ Grade 12.
- National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
- 2 –3 years proven working experience as a Laboratory Analyst.
- Experience in the field of chemical analysis, and the use of emission spectroscopy instrumentation.
- Must have experience in the use of ICP-OES, experience working with Agilent instruments will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of ISO17025:2017.
- Good organizational and record keeping skills.
- Good communication (written and verbal) with report writing and document reviewing skills.
- Ability to maintain self-control and work efficiently under pressure.
