Position Summary and Objective

Ensure that all bulk, raw materials, finished products, validation batches, stability samples, and purified and potable water are analysed. Additionally, ensure that all the procedures and policies of the chemistry laboratory are adhered to, validated, and updated.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Laboratory experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyse all raw materials, bulk, finished products, stability samples, and water according to Specifications, Stability Protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) within the agreed timeframes.
  • Calibrate the instruments according to the Standard Operating Procedures and within the required time.
  • Ensure that the work area and equipment are cleaned per Viatris SA and Safety policies, Good QC Laboratory Practices, and laboratory safety rules daily or as and when required.
  • Ensure that detailed records are kept for all the above objectives as and when required (after completion of each task).
  • Assist in the training of new students in their practical Analyst training.

Health and Safety:

  • Observing and complying with Health and Safety standards and ensuring that health and safety standards are always maintained.
  • Ensuring departmental safety is adhered to and all incidents are reported to the EHS Manager.

Key Knowledge and Skills required

  • All relevant Acts, legislation, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Pharmaceutical Industry.
