Job description

Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Laboratory Administrator to manage daily laboratory operations, staff workflow, and quality compliance. The successful candidate will oversee animal feed sample testing, supervise laboratory technicians, ensure adherence to food safety and accreditation standards, and maintain rigorous administrative and testing records.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure strict compliance with product and service quality standards, food safety protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Uphold and enforce ISO, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant regulatory standards.

  • Monitor and investigate Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (ORPs) to align with company requirements.

  • Conduct internal audits and facilitate external inspections for lab accreditation.

  • Investigate non-conformances and formulate corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).

• Testing & Equipment Maintenance:

  • Oversee and perform testing of animal feed samples for nutritional content, contaminants, and overall conformance.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs.

  • Maintain accurate, traceable records of all tests, calibrations, and results.

• Operations & Team Supervision:

  • Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, staff scheduling, and workflow efficiency.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory technicians.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4).

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience supervising a team.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in office and system administration.

  • Previous working experience within a laboratory environment is advantageous.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of ISO 22000 is advantageous.

• Licence & Mobility:

  • Valid RSA driver’s licence with own reliable transport.
