Lab Technician

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking to hire a lab technician for our client in Meyerton.

Sample Preparation:

• Prepare, collect and label samples for analysis.
• Conduct routine laboratory tests on various substances.
• Perform experiments following standard protocols and safety procedures.
• Record and analyze data accurately for research or quality control.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and report malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate logs, test results and laboratory reports.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Safety and Quality Control:

• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
• Assist in maintaining laboratory quality standards and regulatory compliance.

Inspection and Monitoring:

• Conduct comprehensive quality checks throughout the day to maintain consistent production standards.

Industry Specific Key Responsibilities:

• Verify glue application accuracy using ultraviolet (UV) detection equipment.
• Conduct absorbency tests using specialized equipment and report findings as required by the supervisor.
• Perform quality tests including:
• Structure testing.
• Short and long rewet tests.
• Glue application and peel/seal strength tests.
• Distribution and rewetness assessments.
• Creep and distribution tests.
• Liaise with the glue person and chief engineer to address glue inconsistencies or application issues.
• Regular reporting and communication with supervisors are critical to ensure adherence to manufacturing specifications.
• Apply knowledge of diaper construction and raw materials to assess product quality.
• Exercise authority to prevent the distribution of defective batches.
• Conduct frequent checks on adhesives ensuring proper application to components such as leg elastics, barriers, back sheets and top sheets.
• Monitor diaper elastics and barriers using an oven to identify potential leakage issues.
• Perform visual and structural checks on diaper construction.
• Assist with ad hoc duties as required.
• Manage compliance with all statutory and legal requirements, including the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) 2008, Standards Act 2008, Hazardous Substances Act 1973, and compliance to SHEQ related applicable minimum legal and other requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum matric qualification (NSC certificate required).
• Qualifications in Quality Control will be beneficial.

Education:
