Job Description: Technical Support Engineer (Level 2 Support) - South Africa

Location: Johannesburg, ZA

Our Team

As part of our global standardization initiative, we have reorganized our IT Operations department in South Africa to provide professional and effective IT services. This strategy enhances our competitive edge in the private schooling sector. Our IT teams across countries share best practices and knowledge transfer.

The South African IT support staff will operate in a dynamic environment, providing services onsite and remotely, with support requests managed through the Centralized Service Desk. This role also involves responsibilities for Group IT Projects.

The South African IT Operations team will serve as a central hub within the Group.

Role Summary

The Technical Support Engineers will deliver day-to-day IT support to Inspired Schools in regions including Reddam House and Reddford House. We seek a competent Level 2 Support Engineer responsible for resolving complex issues beyond Level 1 support, managing technical projects related to setup, maintenance, and support of IT systems, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own issues through analysis, implement fixes, and escalate when necessary.
  • Record, update, and document requests using the IT Service Desk System.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade IT equipment, hardware, and software.
  • Resolve incidents with printers, copiers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Maintain high customer service standards, exhibit flexibility in working hours, and provide necessary support coverage.
  • Manage asset registers, perform routine checks, and support backups.
  • Configure applications and contribute to IT projects.
  • Adhere to relevant policies, procedures, and legislation.

This position reports to the IT Manager of the region.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or relevant certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of IT support experience.
  • ITIL certification is desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server, macOS, ChromeOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and common software packages.
  • Networking and network administration skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, accountability, and problem-solving abilities.
