The Role: Commercial Director - CPD, South Africa

We are seeking an inspirational and results-driven Commercial Director to lead our Consumer Products Division's commercial strategy and execution in South Africa. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving aggressive growth, strengthening our market presence, and fostering exceptional relationships with our key retail partners. You will be instrumental in translating global strategies into impactful local commercial plans, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring L'Oréal CPD remains the preferred partner for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Maestro: In collaboration with the Division GM, you'll craft and conduct the division's commercial strategy, ensuring each brand within your portfolio resonates harmoniously with its target audience across all distribution channels and retailers.
  • Growth Catalyst: Your expertise will ignite brand growth, optimizing investments and securing advantageous partnerships with retailers. You'll build mutually beneficial business plans, ensuring a seamless flow of exquisite beauty solutions to eager hands.
  • Relationship Architect: You’ll be the ambassador of L’Oréal CPD, building and nurturing powerful relationships with top management at key retailers. Your diplomacy and influence will be instrumental in navigating complex negotiations and overcoming obstacles with grace and determination.
  • Brand Guardian: Collaborating closely with brand management, you'll ensure that each brand's unique identity and promise are flawlessly expressed within the retail landscape, creating a symphony of desire and aspiration.
  • Commercial Virtuoso: Your mastery of the commercial landscape will extend to managing and optimizing internal structures within the division, anticipating market evolutions and implementing innovative solutions to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Team Leader: You'll assemble and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of commercial excellence and collaboration. By sharing your knowledge and empowering your team, you'll create a legacy of success within L’Oréal CPD.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experienced Commercial Leader: A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive commercial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or beauty company, ideally within the retail or consumer products sector.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable success in driving significant sales growth, market share gains, and building strong customer relationships in a complex and competitive market.
  • Strategic Acumen: Ability to think strategically, analyze complex data, and translate insights into actionable commercial plans.
  • Exceptional Negotiator: Highly skilled in negotiation with a strong ability to influence and build consensus with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Results-Oriented & Resilient: A tenacious drive to achieve ambitious targets, with the ability to navigate challenges and adapt quickly to changing market conditions.
