A leading engineering company in South Africa is seeking a Procurement Specialist to profile categories, onboard suppliers, and optimize procurement strategies. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree, relevant experience in procurement, and strong negotiation skills. The role offers a dynamic work environment focused on enhancing supply chain efficiency and building collaborative relationships with suppliers.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Profile the category assessing current supplier base and market conditions (short term).
• Onboarding where feasible existing OEM Suppliers into KSA and propose for MEA region.
• Generate supplier portfolio for KSA and input into MEA Regional view in select sourcing strategy,
• Select implementation path, negotiate & select new suppliers to onboard, integrate suppliers against Krones supplier code of conduct and procurement policies and continually benchmark supply market.
• Conduct market research, create cost estimates, forecasts, and implement strategy whilst minimizing risks in the supply chain.
• To save costs, time and maximize profitability, you will negotiate with suppliers and use sourcing strategies in the industry.
• Hold structured, periodic business reviews with key suppliers, reviewing all aspects of supplier performance.
• Develop and maintain the supplier database and supplier pipeline ensuring supplier performance management that existing suppliers can meet obligations,
• To find alternatives in alignment with MEA region and Corporate Procurement policies.
• Leads supplier engagement on new supply sources, products and methods of procurement and feedback to MEA region for directional support.
• Negotiates with suppliers regarding specifications, prices and delivery that meet localization requirements and feedback to MEA region for directional support.
• To ensure that all local & International KSA contracts are compliant and create solutions to develop the company’s alternative sourcing, spend and optimizes the buying process.
• Drive regional targets with regards to alternative sourcing for KSA, define governance and strategy in consultation with management on agreed targets.
• Identify, investigate evaluate & implement/propose for implementation opportunities for local purchasing and local manufacture within region; but not limited to MEA.
• Accountable to the regional team tracking of alternative spend and to promote relevant local purchasing and local manufacture opportunities within the region.
• Lead collaboration with KSA team and wider supply chain management (workshop).
• Provide comprehensive management information and in-depth analysis when requested including spend analysis, savings secured and potential savings for forecast and budgets for localisation.
• Communicate direction, and lead negotiations with all levels of supplier management to develop and deploy appropriate contracts, and business relationships that satisfy current and future business needs.
• Specify purchasing requirements in output terms so that suppliers can recommend cost effective and innovative solutions to meet the needs.
• Support dual sourcing in expedition to manage risk, ensure that there is back up suppliers to preferred supplier.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and service on leading procurement practice to all regions departments, supporting in the improvement in SOPs and Strategy when necessary.
• Work with suppliers and influence internal stakeholders to implement the innovation strategy, and to evolve the strategy as technology, markets and business needs change.
• Ensuring all work internal and external is executed in line with Krones policies and procedures.
• Relationships will be managed and maintained and whilst delivering as a Krones ambassador towards all suppliers you will adhere to all Krones policies and procedures and take direction from management in case of doubt.
• Anticipates and highlights issues that need to be considered having a clear and sound decision making process.
• Service Delivery - Develops standards of service delivery beyond those generally accepted.
Qualification, Experience, Behaviours & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Procurement, or a related analytical field.
• CIPS qualification (preferred).
• 5 -7 years Experience in localisation and executing procurement strategies.
• 5 – 7 years Experience in Packaging environment, & engineering of parts (plastic, metal etc.) would be beneficial.
• Strong decision maker.
• Proven track record in building collaborative relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• 5- 7 years strategic thinking and management.
• Ability to work independently and compliant with work processes and procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure.
