ABOUT US

Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women's Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region.

It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The NPY Women's Council Youth Service works with children and young people aged 10-25 and their families.

Our service model includes case management, leadership and education, youth diversion and recreation, as well as advocacy and collaboration.

The main activities of the NPYWC Youth Program are to:

  • Work with young people and their communities to provide enjoyable, educational recreation activities.
  • Provide case management support to young people and their families using a family-oriented, client-centered framework.
  • Advocate for better resourcing and support where there are gaps in services and programs for young people, and for social change.
ABOUT THE ROLE

The Kulintja Palyaringkunytjaku (KP) Project Officer will support NPYWC youth workers and local support workers to deliver activities for young people aged 10–25 and their families across the NPY region, focusing on topics such as mental health, well-being, healthy relationships, substance use, and other key issues identified by Anangu communities.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualifications in social work, youth work, community development, or related human services, along with experience in youth work.

Exposure to remote indigenous communities will be highly regarded.

You should have an understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal people in remote communities, particularly youth, and the ability to work in a cross-cultural environment, including partnering with Anangu communities and staff, and following guidance from Anangu Management.

You will work within a supportive, trauma-informed team in an organization that provides comprehensive orientation, supervision, and professional development, including training on vicarious trauma, case management, and four-wheel driving.

Additional support includes critical incident debriefing and counseling services.

We offer a competitive remuneration package, above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 25 days annual leave, 15 days personal leave, a retention bonus, accommodation, and a company vehicle for remote living and travel.
