Job description

The NEF is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our Facilities team on a 03 months fixed-term contract.

The incumbent's responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all kitchens are maintained in a hygienic condition, including cleaning, washing, and preparation duties to support organized and smooth kitchen operations.
  • Maintaining a hygienic environment in all kitchens.
  • Keeping serving counters, meeting rooms, and kitchens clean.
  • Collecting dishes from meeting rooms.
  • Ensuring cupboards are clean and hygienic.
  • Clearing refrigerators, freezers, and storage rooms.
  • Keeping kitchen walls, floors, and surfaces clean.
  • Preparing meeting rooms before scheduled meetings.
  • Preparing refreshments at least 10 minutes before meetings.
  • Ensuring all clients are served with refreshments accordingly.
  • Properly stocking divisional kitchens.
  • Managing inventory of stock, including groceries, cutlery, and crockery.
  • Counting stock weekly and submitting stock sheets for re-order.
  • Organizing and storing stock correctly.
  • Attending to catering requests 48 hours prior to events.
  • Liaising daily with reception on upcoming activities.
  • Reporting faulty equipment to supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • 6-12 months previous kitchen work experience in a corporate environment.
  • Attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and write.
