Job description

Our Client is a South African fintech company, pioneering the future of payments. They are a passionate and collaborative team of developers, engineers, visionaries, techies, geeks and nerds! They build products that make payments personal and rewarding for customers and merchants alike.

Our Clients are looking for an experienced Key Account Manager or Merchant Growth Manager with demonstrated sales, customer success, and marketing experience at an intermediate level. Previous experience in the hospitality/retail, fintech, and corporate space will be advantageous.

We are seeking sales talent to grow existing clients. You will step in once the Merchant Acquisition Specialist (Sales Rep) has secured a merchant. Your role is to activate, educate, and expand that relationship through the company's proprietary product stack.

You will act as a trusted advisor to merchants, a regional commercial strategist, and ensure each merchant achieves results and continues to grow. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Post-Onboarding Activation
  2. Taking full ownership of new merchants post-onboarding
  3. Ensuring QR placements, acquiring channels (POS, PED, eCommerce) are set up and functional
  4. Defining activation objectives and deploying relevant tools (vouchers, incentives, pre-qualification)
  5. Migrating merchants to paid plans where applicable
  6. Identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the product stack
  7. Tailoring strategies based on merchant vertical, performance, and seasonality
  8. Reactivating dormant or underperforming merchants
  9. Building relationships with store staff to understand needs and execute plans
  10. Conducting quarterly business reviews with data insights
  11. Managing escalations and accountability for your portfolio
  12. Partnering with regional teams for campaigns and activations
  13. Collaborating with operations and product teams to resolve issues
  14. Providing merchant feedback for product and messaging improvements
  15. Tracking and reporting merchant activity weekly
  16. Maintaining merchant notes and next steps in QuickSights and Zoho
  17. Forecasting growth targets and flagging churn risks

This company operates remotely, with occasional in-person meetings. Preference is given to candidates residing in Johannesburg South.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in sales, customer success, and marketing
  • Fintech experience preferred
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of payment products
  • Ability to interact with merchants, especially in retail/hospitality
  • Familiarity with local retail and business offerings

Benefits

  • Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 per month, depending on experience
