Key Account Manager - Online Payments | Jhb North

Our client is a South African fintech company, pioneering the future of payments. They are a passionate and collaborative team of developers, engineers, visionaries, techies, geeks, and nerds!

They build products that make payments personal and rewarding for customers and merchants alike. Our clients are looking for an experienced Key Account Manager or Merchant Growth Manager with demonstrated sales, customer success, and marketing experience at an intermediate level.

Previous experience in the hospitality, retail, fintech, and corporate space will be advantageous. We are seeking sales talent to grow existing clients; you will step in once the Merchant Acquisition Specialist has secured a merchant, and your role is to activate, educate, and expand that relationship through the company's proprietary product stack. You will be a trusted advisor to merchants, a regional commercial strategist, and responsible for ensuring each merchant achieves results and continues growing.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Post-Onboarding Activation: Take full ownership of new merchants, ensure setup of POS, PED, eCommerce, and collateral, and deploy activation tools.
  2. Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities, tailor strategies based on merchant vertical and seasonality.
  3. Engage dormant or underperforming merchants for reactivation.
  4. Build relationships with store staff, conduct quarterly reviews, and provide data-driven insights.
  5. Partner with regional teams for merchant campaigns and regional events.
  6. Collaborate with Operations and Product teams to resolve onboarding issues and feature requests.
  7. Track merchant growth activity, report weekly, and forecast monthly growth targets.

This company operates remotely but may require occasional gatherings in Johannesburg South. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Johannesburg South.

Requirements include solid experience in sales, customer success, and marketing, with fintech experience preferred. Strong business acumen, ability to interact with merchants, familiarity with local retail/hospitality offerings, and proficiency with reporting and CRM tools (Zoho, Campaign Manager, QuickSights) are essential.

Benefits include a salary of R25,000 – R35,000 per month, annual increases, 17 days leave, group life cover, study assistance, crèche & pre-school allowance, quarterly socials, and more.
