Job description

Our Client is a South African fintech company, pioneering the future of payments. They are a passionate and collaborative team of developers, engineers, visionaries, techies, geeks, and nerds!

They build products that make payments personal and rewarding for customers and merchants alike. Our Client is looking for an experienced Key Account Manager or Merchant Growth Manager with demonstrated sales, customer success, and marketing experience at an intermediate level. Previous experience in the hospitality, retail, fintech, or corporate space will be advantageous.

We are seeking sales talent to grow existing clients. You will step in once the Merchant Acquisition Specialist (Sales Rep) has secured a merchant, and your role will be to activate, educate, and expand that relationship through the company's proprietary product stack. You will be a trusted advisor to merchants, a commercial strategist for the region, and responsible for ensuring each merchant achieves results and continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Post-Onboarding Activation: Take full ownership of new merchants post-onboarding. Ensure QR placements, acquiring channels (POS, PED, eCommerce), and collateral are set up and functioning. Define activation objectives and deploy relevant tools (vouchers, incentives, pre-qualification). Migrate merchants from free Basic plans to paid Engagement Plans where applicable.
  2. Merchant Revenue Growth: Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities. Tailor strategies based on merchant vertical, performance, and seasonality. Engage proactively with merchants who are dormant or underperforming to drive growth.
  3. Strategic Account Management: Build deep relationships with store owners and staff. Conduct quarterly business reviews with data insights. Serve as the single point of escalation and accountability for your portfolio.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with regional teams to align campaigns, work with operations and product teams to resolve issues, and provide merchant feedback for continuous improvement.
  5. Reporting & Discipline: Track and report merchant activity weekly using QuickSights and Zoho. Maintain updated notes and forecast growth targets, flagging churn risks.

This is a remote organization; however, occasional in-person meetings may be required. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Cape Town Northern Suburbs.

Requirements
  • Solid experience in sales, customer success, and marketing; fintech experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with payment products knowledge.
  • Ability to interact effectively with merchants in retail/hospitality industries.
  • Familiarity with local retail/business offerings.
  • Ability to work remotely and drive active participation online.
  • Commercially strategic mindset and trusted advisor approach.
  • Accountable, performance-driven, and proactive.
  • Fluent in reporting and CRM tools (Zoho, Campaign Manager, QuickSights).
Benefits
  • Salary: R25,000 – R35,000 per month (dependent on experience).
  • Annual increase after 12 months.
  • 17 days leave, group life cover, Discovery Vitality, study assistance, crèche & pre-school allowance, quarterly socials.
