OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing key accounts, including pharmacy wholesalers and corporate pharmacy accounts. The role involves driving sales performance, managing revenue, operating income, and trade expenditure, and collaborating with various departments such as Marketing, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Compliance, and 3rd Party Logistics. Ensuring adherence to Aspen policies, systems, and procedures is essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieve financial and non-financial objectives for key accounts as set by the Consumer Head and KAM Lead.
- Plan, implement, and monitor sales activities across national and regional territories.
- Drive channel-specific goals, including Corporate Pharmacy, Retail, and Pharma Wholesaler.
- Manage operating expenses and debtors in collaboration with Finance and Debtors’ teams.
- Negotiate trading agreements and track expenditures with finance and legal departments.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in sales channels and product portfolios.
- Ensure strategic negotiations are operationally implemented through regular communication with sales, marketing, and management teams.
- Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring robust expenditure control.
- Report monthly on budget achievements.
- Propose and develop methods to improve customer service, updating them regularly.
- Maintain Aspen’s position as a partner of choice in key product categories.
- Implement channel-specific tactics to enhance services and products.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, marketing codes, and company policies.
Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Matric Certificate
- Degree/diploma in a relevant commercial or healthcare field (advantageous)
Knowledge & Experience
- 3-5 years in sales, marketing, or key account management within the pharma industry
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning for accounts
- Proven skills in customer negotiations and contract management
- Strong understanding of market dynamics and customer relationship management
- Knowledge of FMCG landscape and future trends
- Pharmaceutical industry experience, including relevant laws and regulations
- Ability to acquire product knowledge and understand commercial processes
- Proficiency in customer data analytics and tools
- Experience with P&L, budgeting, and financial management
