Overview

The Key Account Manager works within Amazon Vendor Services (AVS), a B2B service that helps strategic vendor partners grow their business with Amazon. You will gain 360-degree exposure to all e-commerce related areas that affect long-term and short-term growth metrics for key vendors. You will act as a consultant driving success metrics on a daily basis and ensure the vendor’s AVS experience demonstrates our customer obsession. The role involves collaborating with multiple internal teams and management to grow and improve vendor success at Amazon. Internal teams include merchandising / marketing, new product launch, category leads, pricing, finance, and supply chain. The role is strategic, operational and tactical in nature.

Key job responsibilities
  • Core Service: Use your knowledge in deep data analytics to identify industry opportunities and provide recommendations to improve overall business performance through the use of Amazon programs to drive long-term benefits for Amazon and the vendor. Provide actionable insights to vendors that support decision making and business advancement.
  • Relationship management: Serve as the primary liaison between the Vendor and Amazon while ensuring all material and interactions with vendors meet a standard that earns trust and fosters long-term partnerships.
  • Availability & Operational Excellence: Drive supply-chain operational excellence initiatives by optimizing existing processes, managing defects, lead times, and stock to ensure availability for customers.
  • Promotion & Funding: Recommend marketing and advertising campaigns to promote new products, increase traffic and improve conversion. Plan, implement and manage promotional activities for Amazon events to help your vendor generate sales. Collaborate with Amazon Advertising to explore additional marketing opportunities.
  • Ranging: Grow product range by managing launches of new products, expanding local availability on the platform and improving discoverability. Identify product gaps, onboard new products and be responsible for product growth.
  • Store data quality management: Deliver a positive customer journey on Amazon (e.g., regular store checks, competitor benchmarking, enhanced content on detail pages, quality product visibility, accurate product descriptions).
  • Problem solving: Define and implement clear action plans that enable vendor growth under AVS and adapt service offerings to meet vendor and Amazon business needs.
  • Project management: Deliver projects that add value to the vendor and/or Amazon community.
  • Team player: Actively participate in Amazon team-led initiatives that advance the Amazon store and customer experience in South Africa.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in either of the following areas: Account management / Customer Development, Buying, Business Management, Business Consulting, Project Management, Financial Analysis and/or Marketing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated success in negotiations, influencing abilities and relationship management.
  • Able to work in an entrepreneurial startup-type environment
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and lead initiatives that enhance vendor engagement.
  • Able to solve problems and initiate projects that lead to measurable positive business impact
  • Experience analyzing data to support business decisions.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
