Scentium is part of the Flavours & Fragrances business within Croda, a FTSE100 company focused on delivering 'Smart Science to Improve Lives'. Our Scentium business is a market leader in the F&B (flavour) industry, delivering strong sales and profit growth across our global platforms.

Due to the continued expansion of this business, we are now looking for a Key Account Manager to join the team in South Africa.

Reporting to the General Manager and Regional Sales Director, you will be part of our sales team focused on delivering solutions to our customers.

Overview of Role

To increase and maintain sales and existing market shares, through existing customer service, recruiting of new customers and to provide information concerning sales and marketing, product quality, competitor activities and service levels to ensure sustainable market growth.

Job Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Achieve annual/monthly sales and GP targets as pre-determined by budget and forecast to ensure sustainable market growth.
  • Meet individual customer budgets.
  • Develop new business footprint.
  • Grow new business opportunities project pipeline sufficiently for forward growth targets.
  • Grow defense and attack project pipeline to ensure product retention and growth.
  • Maintain margin targets to ensure topline growth.
  • Identify and assess category potential flavours in South Africa & Southern Africa.
  • Identify local partner / distributor and assist with the development of a business plan.
  • Manage agreements / distributors / customers in various territories.
  • Implement business strategy to ensure budget figures are met.
  • Follow up on supply, stock management & forecast, pricing.
  • Timely application completion, submission and execution of CRM, CRS, and Briefs
  • Complete visit reports
  • Ensures that the sales assistant has captured the briefs.
  • Ensures that the sales assistant follows up with the lab for submission.
  • Ensures that the briefs are updated regularly.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Tertiary qualification in Sales and Marketing, Technical Diploma/ degree.
  • Technical Experience Advantageous.
  • At least two years sales experience with a proven track record in the Flavours industry.
  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP.
  • Assertive and confident.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Able to make independent decisions.
  • Able to manage high volumes and flow of work.
  • Results-driven.
  • High level of relationship management.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with high regard for work ethic, values, and integrity
