About the Role

Galencia Properties is looking for a highly experienced and disciplined K9 Dog Handler (DH5) to join our security team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional handling, care and deployment of a trained security dog while supporting the protection of our property developments, construction sites, equipment, materials, employees and assets.

This is a position for an experienced K9 professional who is confident working in a high-risk property and construction environment and can operate independently while maintaining strict security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular K9 patrols of construction sites, properties, perimeters and designated security areas.
• Handle and control the K9 professionally at all times.
• Conduct preventative patrols to detect and deter trespassing, theft, vandalism and unauthorised access.
• Conduct perimeter and access-control patrols.
• Respond promptly to security incidents and suspicious activity.
• Assist with searches of designated areas when required.
• Monitor and report unusual activity, security breaches and potential risks.
• Maintain accurate daily K9 and security patrol records.
• Report incidents immediately to the Security Manager/Supervisor.
• Ensure the K9 is properly cared for, fed, exercised and maintained in good working condition.
• Conduct routine checks of the K9's health, behaviour and readiness for duty.
• Maintain the K9's equipment and ensure all equipment is in good working condition.
• Follow all Company security procedures, instructions and operational protocols.
• Work closely with security officers, supervisors and management.
• Assist other security personnel during security incidents where required.
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times.
• Ensure the K9 is safely secured and controlled when off patrol.
• Participate in training and refresher exercises to maintain operational readiness.
• Perform any other reasonable security-related duties assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements

• DH5 qualification/certification – essential.
• Extensive experience as a K9 Dog Handler.
• Minimum 5 years' relevant K9/security experience preferred.
• Valid PSiRA registration – required.
• Proven experience handling and deploying a trained security dog in an operational environment.
• Experience working on construction sites, large properties, estates, warehouses or similar environments will be highly advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of security procedures and preventative security measures.
• Ability to identify suspicious behaviour and potential security risks.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to complete security and incident reports accurately.
• Physically capable of performing patrol and security duties.
• Reliable, disciplined and able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a security team.
• Clean disciplinary record and strong professional integrity.
