Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Quality, Safety & Legislation
- Manage the compilation of certification, tracking, submission and filing of documentation to comply with (South Africa,Bitswana,eSwatini,Namibia and Lesotho Cosmetic legislation
- Complete all tasks related to finalisation of PIF compilation under the leadership of the Technical Manager including:
- Reformulation where necessary and manage and track the progress of the reformulation within required timelines through ongoing communication with the relevant technologists (Product and Packaging) and buyer to relaunch the corrected formulation and ensure PIF completion.
- Required artwork changes as directed by the Toxicologist. Manage and track progress of the necessary changes within required timelines through ongoing communication with the relevant Technologists, Buyer and Design Agency
- Drive PIF requirements across suppliers and manage completion of PIFs with suppliers timeously and accurately.
- Ensure PIFs and relevant documents are loaded onto the regulatory system and validated by the necessary technologists and correct and aligned to required timelines.
- Conduct ongoing updates on PIFs as required with quarterly complaint management updates.
- Manage the compilation of certification, tracking, submission and filing of documentation for Beauty Without Cruelty registration and any formulation, ingredient or raw material supplier changes that comply with the registration requirements
- Lead regulatory change – to manage new legislative requirements into the categories, communicate and ensure total compliance of this within product developments
- Data capturing of all relevant documents into regulatory system accurately and timeously, across all categories and departments
- To report and update on meeting business timelines and expectations accordingly.
- Drive completion within required timeframes
- Compile and submit all DOH and other Regulatory Authorities’ recommendations within agreed and specified time limits
- Address any requests by the Department of Health through communication and sign off with the Technical Manager.
Manage Regulatory System
- Continous training and implementation of the regulatory system across the Technical team.
- Manage and address all regulatory system issues with Vizi and any associated timelines and directives.
Minimum Requirements
JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE
- Understanding of packaging types, formats, breakdowns and recyclability within SA.
- Ensure dossiers are in line with DOH requirements and assist with the maintenance thereof and preparations for submission to DOH when required
- Understanding and implementing cosmetic and toiletries regulations, labelling laws and product safety and quality processes for relevant categories.

- Intermediate knowledge of cosmetic and toiletries formulation, development, manufacture and quality processes to lead innovation in these categories.

Job Experience
- Minimum 2 years practical knowledge in formulation, development and quality control of cosmetics and toiletries.
- Experience with Beauty Without Cruelty registration process recommended.
- Experience with cosmetic product information file compilation.
EDUCATION
- Packaging Diploma
- Diploma/Degree in Biotechnology/Quality Control/Science/ Chosmetic(Chemistry) Science based studies
