Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a Junior Sous Pastry Chef for a luxury wilderness reserve located in the Western Cape . This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and creative pastry professional looking to grow their career within a world-class culinary team.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist the Head Pastry Chef in daily preparation and service of all pastry and dessert items
Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene
Support with menu creation, development of new recipes, and seasonal adjustments
Manage and train junior pastry staff, ensuring consistent output and growth
Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and ensure cost-effective usage of ingredients
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry section at all times
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and internal standards
Collaborate with the broader kitchen team to ensure seamless service
Requirements :
A relevant culinary qualification or pastry diploma preferred
2–3 years’ experience in a similar role in a high-end hospitality environment
Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, and plated desserts
Creative flair and a genuine passion for baking and pastry arts
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
Strong team player with a proactive attitude
Willingness to live and work in a remote wilderness setting
