Job description

National FMCG group is seeking a Junior Sales Representative in Ladysmith to cover the Northern Natal areas. The role involves maintaining and developing new and existing customers by selling products and meeting customer needs. The representative will service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedules to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.

Responsibilities

  • Set sales targets based on store potential, location, and deals involved.
  • Serve customers by selling products and exceeding customer needs.
  • Build strong customer relationships with added value.
  • Plan and organize daily work schedules to service existing accounts and acquire new ones.
  • Coordinate sales promotions.
  • Identify slow-moving products and promote new products.
  • Evaluate customers before accepting them.
  • Identify prospective customers and convert them into OGD customers.
  • Adjust sales presentations based on the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Focus sales efforts by analyzing existing and potential dealer volumes.
  • Submit orders referencing price lists and product literature.
  • Apply OGD sales KPIs.
  • Analyze sales data and develop sales action plans.
  • Manage project events.
  • Utilize Break-Even Point Analysis knowledge.
  • Keep management informed with activity and results reports, including daily call reports, weekly work plans, and territory analyses.
  • Monitor competition by gathering marketplace information on pricing, products, and merchandising techniques.
  • Recommend product, service, and policy changes based on results and market developments.
  • Resolve customer complaints through investigation and solution development.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking.
  • Maintain sales records for area and customer data.
  • Contribute to team efforts as needed.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and fill in the vehicle logbook daily.
  • Complete weekly call cycles.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Preferably a tertiary qualification in marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration.
  • 3 to 5 years of sales experience, preferably in FMCG.
  • C1 driver’s license with PDP.
  • Experience dealing with chain retail stores.
  • Ability to speak at least one traditional language.
  • Willingness to travel daily; residents of Newcastle or Ladysmith preferred.

Remuneration

  • R10,000 to R15,000 (negotiable based on qualifications and experience).
  • Commission after a 3-month training period.
  • Travel and fuel allowances.
