Job summary

FEM, based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is seeking a Junior QA Tester to support the delivery of reliable software in a DevOps and Agile environment. The role focuses on manual testing, defect management, and developing automation testing skills under supervision, while contributing to CI/CD processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts and senior QA team members to ensure software quality standards are maintained throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Matric qualification and ISTQB Foundation Certification (or working towards).
• Software testing short courses, relevant bootcamps, internships or equivalent exposure.
• Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field advantageous.
• 0–2 years' experience in software testing.

Job description

FEM is looking to appoint a Junior QA Tester at our Head Office. The successful candidate will support the delivery of reliable, high-quality software by executing defined quality assurance activities within a DevOps and Agile delivery environment. The role focuses on manual testing, defect management, and developing automation testing skills under supervision, while contributing to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.

The successful candidate will work closely with developers, business analysts and senior QA team members to ensure software quality standards are maintained throughout the development lifecycle. The individual will be responsible for executing test cases, identifying and reporting defects, supporting quality assurance activities, and continuously developing their technical and business knowledge within a collaborative software development environment.

The minimum requirements of the position are a Matric qualification together with ISTQB Foundation Certification (or currently working towards certification), software testing short courses, relevant bootcamps, internships or equivalent practical exposure. A Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field will be advantageous.

Candidates should have between 0 and 2 years' experience in software testing. Exposure to academic testing projects, internships, graduate programmes, Agile delivery environments, test case creation and execution, as well as basic SQL knowledge, will be advantageous.

This position is based in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
