Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Contribute to the development and commercial success of Schauenburg Systems’ next generation Collision Prevention System (CPS) within the mining sector.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Auto-Electrician (Red Seal Certified) or Electrician (Industrial or Mining) or Instrumentation Technician (Required)
  • CompTIA A+ and N+ training (Beneficial)
  • Experience in the underground mining industry is required.
  • Experience in network connectivity (VLAN, WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi)
  • Experience in Level 9 CPS deployments will be beneficial.

Internal Candidate

  • Four years Collision Prevention System (CPS) experience (SCAS II, SCAS Surface)
  • Completion of a trade certificate in electrical field or N5 Electrical/ Electronics
  • Own Vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Medically Fit

External Candidate

  • Preferred: A diploma in Auto electrical and or Electrical / Electronic technician trades
  • Preferred: Four to six years of experience in the Electronics field
  • Own Vehicle with a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a valid passport
  • Must be willing to travel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development and Support

  • Assist in planning and executing proof of concepts and trial installations under supervision
  • Document trial installation procedures, outcomes, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain detailed logs and site reports for feedback to the Senior Product Specialist, Product Manager and engineering team.
  • Participate in beta tests and prototype deployments, providing structured performance and usability feedback.

Research and development

  • Perform system integration tests and functionality validation as per release notes.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team during validation phases to capture real-world performance data.
  • Participate and document in field validation of systems; collect usage data and report anomalies or improvement areas.

Customer and Market Engagement

  • Conduct regular site visits for technical support, training, and product monitoring.
  • Collect structured customer feedback and potential requirements for senior Product Specialist and Product Manager to review.
  • Under the guidance of the senior product specialist, represent Schauenburg IVS department during on-site demonstrations.
  • Assist with on-site basic user training and onboarding sessions

Technical Issue Resolution and Support

  • Diagnose and escalate product-related technical issues following predefined workflows.
  • Assist the Senior Product Specialist with troubleshooting during on-site visits.
  • Able to provide remote support to the various regional areas.
  • Contribute to the development and updating of support documentation, FAQs, and guides.

  • Technical installation skills: Excellent hands-on skills such as drilling, welding and tapping.
  • Trouble shooting and diagnostics: Proficient to identify and resolve technical issues in the field.
  • Mining sector skills: Possess a solid understanding of mining sector safety standards to ensure duties are performed safely and efficiently.
