As they continue to expand into new regions, they are seeking a Junior Operations Manager to oversee sales, logistics, and team management across multiple locations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Operations Management, or a related field
  • Previous experience in food and beverage sales, with preference for candidates who have worked in perishable goods or retail sales environments
  • Food safety or handling certification (advantageous)
  • Basic knowledge of food safety compliance and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for inventory and sales tracking
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail and sales environment
  • Adaptability to handle peak seasons and fluctuating demand
  • Willingness to travel to various locations, including KZN and Mpumalanga

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Optimize the sales process to drive revenue growth
  • Manage inventory and supply chain for perishable goods
  • Oversee order fulfillment and logistics coordination
  • Handle vendor and supplier relationships (dairy, flavorings, packaging, etc.)
  • Forecast demand and plan stock levels accordingly
  • Customer Relationship & Service Management
  • Manage B2B and B2C client relationships
  • Enhance customer service and ensure high satisfaction levels
  • Handle complaints, conduct feedback analysis, and implement service improvements
  • Develop and execute upselling and cross-selling strategies
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving
  • Analyze sales data and generate reports
  • Study market trends, including seasonality impacts on gelato sales
  • Optimize pricing strategies and profit margins
  • Track KPIs such as sales performance, customer retention, and inventory turnover
  • Technical & Compliance
  • Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Excel for inventory and sales tracking
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and cold chain logistics
  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and manage sales and production teams
  • Train and onboard new team members
  • Motivate staff to achieve sales targets
  • Delegate tasks and monitor staff performance
  • Financial & Budgeting Responsibilities
  • Manage operational costs and budgets
  • Forecast sales and track revenue
  • Implement cost-control strategies to minimize wastage of perishable goods
  • Product & Industry Knowledge
  • Ensure an in-depth understanding of gelato production and quality control
  • Keep up to date with industry trends in the frozen dessert sector
  • Organizational & Event Planning
  • Effectively manage peak seasons and fluctuating demand
  • Plan and execute promotional events, pop-ups, and tastings
